Okay, with election time coming up, figured it might be fun to see who the board would have as the next president of the US of A. I have a theory that hudson owners lean towards the conservative side of politics, but it is just a theory. Anyway, here's the low down. I'm gonna list 8 front running candidates, no specific order, just the Democrats as the first 4 and the Republicans as the second 4, to make the bar graph easier to read the results. Poll is anonymous, so no one knows who you vote for. We'll let this run for a week, and see who the voice of the hudson board feels like electing.

Please do not open this up for a thread of political debate. I think it might just be a fun poll. If you don't want to participate, then don't. If you don't like it, stay away. No need to comment.

I apologize, DaveFury, I can no longer edit the poll. Someone voted already, and I would have been glad to edit otherwise. I find myself a few seconds late to edit. I wanted to take the top 4 of each, but by no means, wanted to not include someone that should have been. If anyone of the moderators wish to edit this poll, and include Ron Paul, please feel free to add him.

Where is the "None of the Above" option?

Frankly, I can not see myself voting for any of the candidates regardless of party.

The "third" party candidates are single-issue platform and have no solid overall plan to make the country better.

The major party candidates are more worried about making the other guy look bad that they are forgetting to tell me how they are actually going to make this a better place.

I want to hear each candidate tell the world what the other party is doing right and who they would select from the other party as President is they were unable hold office.

And I want to hear each candidate tell the world who in their own party would be a good replacement if they were not able to hold office.

This goes for the "third" party candidates as well.

I am tired of hearing what "they screwed up" and "I am the better person." I want to hear "they did this well, but I can do it better and hear is how."

Heck, I might even vote for someone who would say "I can't to that any better but term limits apply and I feel I can do the job just as well."

Except in the last 7 years we went from balancing the budget and paying off a 3 trillion dollar debt to paying interest on $9 trillion. Noone can honestly say they are better off now than 8 years ago.

Romney is the best business man period. He knows economics better than any of the others hands down. McCain likes illegal aliens so he can move to Mexico. With all that said. They are all *****s but that is the only way you can get elected in this country. Vote for Niels!

I would think if you looked at the age thread, then looked at this thread, and saw where the majority of the age/conservative lean is, you could answer a lot of questions.

I think that as people age, they become more conservative, without regard to the real facts.

quite frankly, there is no good politician, with an R or a D behind their name.

I did not want this to turn into a political debate, but honestly, when you do look at it, I will say that I am in fact, worse off now, than I was 8 years ago. Reasons for that? perhaps it is political, or global, I don't know. But I remember some better times of the 1990's. (Hey, even the 80's were pretty great!) Both decades were pretty good, and I was not a Clinton fan then.

    What changed?

Your success is what YOU make it, not some politician. If a person bases their success in life based on who is in office, they are setting themselves up for huge disappointments. A person that overcomes the obstacles that government puts in front of them (and as someone who owned a small business for seven years, there are PLENTY of them!), is going to succeed.

You haven't heard? A Conservative is a Liberal that got mugged by reality..

And I am a proud Conservative...NOT to be confused with (R).

I think what you say to a certain degree is quite true 66patrick66, but I also think that to some degree that person in office, can affect consumer confidence, and further drive market forces such as inflation. This to a significant degree, can very well affect one's livlihood, and ulitmate success.

I would further venture to say, that it is to some degree the responsibilty of those in power, and that have the ability to do so, to try to build consumer confidence, and keep the forces of inflation under control.

I personally think that the cost of consumables is out of control, meaning a loaf of bread, a gallon of milk, a pack of diapers, a gallon of gas, all of this has exponentially increased over the last couple of years, more so than pretty much any other time in history. For products to increase at this rate, really hits the working middle class, and those on fixed incomes. Inflation may be a fact of life, but when it is out of control, there's a problem.

I don't hear stories of people keeping up with this inflation via their pay scale, it seems that we are entering into some bad times. the market is taking a dive, things don't look good.

I like to think I am conservative as well, I just can't get behind the current regime, which is under the guise of conservative politics, and someone above pretty much summed that up.

Still not sure how I am going to vote, in a few months. We need to do something. Remember, it's not important who you vote for, just that you do.

Personally, at this point, I could get behind almost anyone that is not Bush/Cheyney.

    Definition of "politician":

pol - eh - teh - shuhn = derived from the Greek root "poly", meaning "many", and "tick", meaning "blood-sucking little insects".

Historically, women have played the role of taking care of day to day business on the homefront, including cleaning house. I'm thinking it's time to clean house in DC.

Those are the roles that women USED to play. Not anymore. You can thank the Gloria Allred's and her feminazi clones for trying to make people believe that estrogen and testosterone are the same thing.

I'd vote for Margaret Thatcher but Hillary ain't no Margaret Thatcher!

    Dave W,

We have not had a balanced budget since Ike. Don't believe the "balanced budget" BS...there are THREE distinctly different budgets, and only one is "counted". There has not been a balanced budget since 1959.

Looks like McCain is going to sew the nomination up. That's going to be tough to swallow for all those right wing conservatives as he is NOT a "puppet" of the republican party nor shares the views of the extreme right wing. That means all these right wing fanatics are either going to have to vote for McCain, a 3rd party, vote Democratic, or protest by not voting at all. In the end, that group will have no choice but to support McCain.

Head of AMC til the early 60's, governor of michigan and on Nixons cabinet. Father of Mitt. I would guess he played a big hand in ending Nash and Hudson, but they were in bigf trouble before 1957.
