If I've already dropped the oil pan for sludge removal, how involved a job is replacement / repacking of the rear crank seal? Thanks,

If it don't leak, don't fix it! You either have to remove the crankshaft, or the transmission , clutch, and flywheel, to replace this properly. there are other methods of trying to fix a leak here, such as packing behind the bottom section, and punching a small section up against the joint in the upper half, but they are difficult, and may not work.

I scanned one which I have. If someone will post the scan, I'll gladly email it to them in JPG format. They were used on 318 Chrysler engines. Have to cut the "wings" or arms off... Very glad to hear they can be installed without having to drop the transmission. Walt-LA
