Hudson Dave's Next Project -
-
From Hudson Dave:
I thought the boys on the form might get a laugh out of this. This is my next adventure . The frame Is a 1928 Hudson . The front clip is a 1939 Hudson . The body Is a 1934 Buick 4 door. The engine is a 1960 olds 394 with a hydro and rear end from the olds. It has 315 HP 4-1/4 in bore 10.0 comp. I am cutting 12 in. out of the front doors and removing the post and making a 40 In. door that opens from the back. (SUICIDE) I do believe. I will be cutting the olds dash and shorting it to fit the Buick This will be a hand full for at least the first 50 FEEEEEEEEET. It should get things going for awhile.
Best regards,
Judy Correllus

Hmmmm,
I know where that body came from, looked at it a few months ago.
Sounds like a fun and challenging project. Gotta use up those parts somehow... -
Very cool Dave! I like it!
-
looks like a fun project, will be waiting for future pics, BILL ALBRIGHT
-
Dave you are a wild and crazy guy!
-
Nice to see that I am not the only one out there that is willing to take on a project that brings back a junk yard dog and makes it a respectable street machine. Cannot wait to see the project on the road. Just curious what the title will say when it gets back to you.
Brownie PetersenBrownie -
Well It dose have a Hudson frame and I am Hudson Dave so I think It will be a Hudson . This is the most fun I have had After 8 years of being so critical on my 1946 Commodore It's so fun to take a tape and say that's close enough . CUT HER IN HALF . I am having a ball . As long as Rick doesn't mind posting for me I will keep you up to speed on the goings on. I CANT WAIT TO DROP THAT 394 OLDS IN PLACE. I will bet Dan and Rambo will both need a beer befor this one is done . ROY MARKS said that It was the BIGEST BANTOM HE HAS SEEN Hudson Dave
-
That sort of hot rod I can live with. What really upsets me is when someone cuts up a perfectly good original car. Good luck with your project, and keep us posted on progress won't you. Incidentally, I can't see anything identifiable as a 1928 frame in your pics.
Geoff.If you're stuck in a hole, stop digging. -
From Hudson Dave -
Here Is an update on the Hot Rod. I call It a Buoldsun .
You can't imagine how much fun this Is.
Hudson Dave

-
Good luck! It's looking good so far. What Kind of seats are those? I'm looking for some seat for my retro 34 coupe.
-
Thanks for looking . These seets are out of a S-10 . I am going to take the head rests off . I have a buddy of mine with a 34 Hudson Teraplane and he has Pontiac Fero seats and they look good .
Well the Holiday Season Is upon us so I will probably be going through with drawls not being able to work on the car BUT CHRISTMAS ONLY COMES ONCE A YEAR . :eek:I beter be good or Santa won't bring me any Car Part for Christmas . I will keep you posted as long as Rick dosn't get tired Of me
. Thanks Rick Hudson Dave
Merry Christmas And a Happy New Year . Fom SUNNY FL. -
With all that room in front of that motor how about using a V-10-12? OR the 1000lb 1000hp Hudson Motors from one of those PT boats (I know it's too heavy and big...but...
) -
Here's an update on the Bu- Old-Sun. I thought the guys on
the forum might like to see the progress.

Even I Could Get In And Out Of That Door. Also Big Paul Cant Wait For Mor Pics. Keep Up The Good Work, Bill A.
-
Great progress on your Project and looking very Good as it takes shape. Looks like you have the hardest work behind you....
-
Its looking great, Dave, but now be a good lad and chop that top a couple three inches, please. Then it'll be "Just Right"!
-
Happy Sunday Hudson Dave here . Thanks for looking . I had to change the seats already because of head room so I think chopping the roof is OUT OF THE QUESTION:mad: As you can see from the photos I lost about 1 1/4 inches when I put the floor in and the Body Is already channeled 4 1/2 Inches . So I went to Mazda 626 Leather seats lower and much more comfy .
. I have 10 Inch wide Rally Wheels with beauty rings and Olds center caps . 295-50-R15 for the rear and 205-65-R15 for the front . I need to get them painted red and I can mount them up . That will change the LOOKS:cool: completely . We, myself and my friend Dave, said we should skin the door that shouldn't be that hard  two days later It looks pretty good . We were both impressed:p . I must say I am glad this Is only a two door. Only one more to go. Yes, Bill, with a 40 Inch door opening I think you and a friend can get in at the same time. Thank you Rick for the Post. Hudson Dave AKA Buolsun Dave:) -
Dave, you are a warped man! I like what you are doing there!
How about "Buhudsmobile" or maybe "Hudsbumobile"? "Oldhudick"?
"Hudoldick" "The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings..." -
From Hudson Dave -
"It Is starting to look like a real car. I got a good deal on two leather seats out of a Mazda 626 that fit perfect . Seats, seat belts and shoulder and harness for $40.00 couldn't pass them up."
Hudson Dave, AKA Buolsun Dave

-
Looking real Nice. I like the Wheels.. Looks like the rear are wider with a deeper offset....At your fast pace you will be ready for Cruisin' Season....

Isn't that like taking 12 different puzzles and putting their pieces together? hahaha I like it though. That's something I could do with the "extra parts" when my restorations are completed to clean out the garage. hahahah
Got fenders for it ? -
From 'Hudson Dave' -
The last time this thing turned over was 1992 . With some help from
Don a gasket set and a set of ring the 394 Olds came to life . 315 HP
ROARS again , the MIGHTY GIANT awakes . It is close to going to the
barn and go night night while I start work on the body.

From Hudson Dave -
"I thought It was about time for a update on the Buolson. Every day gets a little more exciting . The body is coming along slow but I am excited about the way it is coming out . It costs $18.00 a Gal. for bondo, that lasts about two weeks . I told my wife $ 18.00 for two weeks entertainment is more fun than Disneyland."

(whew!... A lot of pictures!)
-
Thanks for posting the photos Rick . Hudson Dave
-
Very cool. I built a rat rod once. It was a lot of fun building something from parts that other wise might never have a use. I hope you have inspired someone out there to make their own rat rod. ...So much fun.
-
Update from Hudson Dave on his project:
"Tomorrow it might get some brakes on it AND then maybe a quick trip down the road and back."
Hudson Dave
-
Lookin' good Dave! Wish I could go for a ride.
-
It just looks long but it only has a 101 wheel base  . It is going to need that long nose to keep the front end on the ground . Maybe not the motor and trans tip the scale at 950LB  . But who is going to get on it that hard:rolleyes: Thanks for looking Hudson Dave
-
That's awesome! Love it.

Hi HudsonDave,
Looks like you're having a lot of fun......the doors came out great!!!
Have you ever thought about doing something like this?? Or are you more of a "gasser" fan
Keep us posted!!!

HD_1951_126854642851411.jpg640 x 480 - 86KThis Hudson project is starting to scare the crud out of me!!! -
This is a cool ride a good mix of all sorts, certainly will get the looks and when you tell them what its made of you will have them stunned
trying to imagine all the peices going together in there minds
Mike -
Thanks Rick for posting the photos
.To answer Lee's question, can't go any lower. The trans pan and crossmember are only 5 in. off the ground  Oldsmobile motor sits low in the frame . I have to say all of my freinds that helped bring this pile of junk home 3 years ago just shake heads in disbelief  , they can't beleve the difference . I have to thank me wife for her help and input . she has contributed ALOT to the styling , from the 107 in. wheel base to 101 in. to the mounting of the Raidio antenna , headlight , tail lights and much more . It is nice to have someone to bounce your ideals off of .
