blanking off heat riser on a '35
-
hey fellas, does any one out there have any thoughts about blanking off the heat riser on the '34-'35 212 splashers? thanks, tom
-
Just takes a bit longer for the engine to warm up and it won't ever stick and cause problems again
-
Yes, blank it off, we never use them here in Australia as they are prone to sticking closed.Just remove the shaft and replace with a nut and bolt.

the riser valve on mine is manual..winter/ summer settings. i was wondering about the two openings between the exhaust manifold and intake/carb mount. it looks like the summer setting just diverts 1/2 the exhaust around the carb throat as the winter setting does, but it does not completely close it off. regards, tom

i just went out to the shop again and i see the winter/summer valve really doesn't close off the two ports at all. it opens the area above the ports. winter setting all exhaust flows by the two openings. summer setting ports still fully open, but exhaust from cylinders 5 and 6 can now flow above the two ports. cylinders 3-4 always open to carb box ports. sooo, i was wondering..does any one just blank off those ports? the ports where the carb box mounts, completely? regards, tom
