No fire from the coil. Please help.
-
I know I'm problably missing something obvious but I can't get a 61 slant six to fire up. The problem is in the electrical. The starter is spinning the old girl like crazy. The battery is fully charged. New coil, dist. cap, plug & coil wires, but still no fire to the distributor. Have pulled the wire from the coil off dist. and checked for spark, nada. Any ideas out there I need to get the old Lancer running. Any and all ideas appreciated. I'll try anything short of explosives.

sounds like maybe your points aren't working ? Did you take the cap off and open them manually with a screwdriver ? If you get a spark check your gap .

One of the things that I've seen on the slant 6's is that the gear on the bottom of the shaft cracks. Most of them where plastic. Make sure that the distributor is spinning and check the points for spark like powerwagon suggested.
