Anyone see the thermometer on Ebay?
-
Did any of you see the advertising thermometer that just sold on Ebay? It was from L.I. City Hudson in Woodside NY. It was made of painted metal, about 15 inches long, 7.5 inches wide and listed the names and telephone numbers of a number of car dealers you could call for parts (all makes). I thought it was a nice piece of memorabilia and considered bidding a few bucks on it, but never got around to it. Good thing I guess..... It sold yesterday for 715.00. Yikes. Gotta get me some of those...... Aaron

Hmmmm - wonder what that matchbook cover, advertising the 1941 Hudson from Henly-Kimball in Bangor, Maine, would have been worth on ebay.
Come to think of it, I did buy it off ebay, but I didn't pay any $715 for it. More like $7, at the time, as I recall. Or less.
Oh, well, I know what it's worth to the 1941 Hudson owner I just gave it to.
Hudsonly,

WOW...Cool piece of history but $715.00! Wouldn't it be funny if L.I. City Hudson had the telephone numbers for bars or insane assylums printed next to the names of other dealers.

You know, reading some of the responses on this forum makes me think that us "Hudson" guys have some of the best senses of humor around the old car network. Maybe its from years of folks laughing at us! I've bought (and over spent) on lot's of Hudson memorabilia on Ebay, but you know what they say, it's only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. I guess I'll have to get my next thermometer from the dollar store (It'll be in centigrade and Chinese). Happy Hudsoning.... Aaron

I've got an idea for that Chinese thermometer, copy the pic above and paste it onto a piece of wood. Then, place your $1.00 (plus tax) thermometer on it and bingo, the look of a $700.00 collectible for a fraction of the price. BTW, I'll take one when you start making them.
