Mystery car begging to be fixed

    Hi, I have this mystery car that I want to pull out of the back yard and get going again. As far as my old man know's, it's a dodge 64, but nothing else that he can remember. The car was first owned by his brother, when it cratered, my dad got it at 15 and fixed it up, and now I would like to fix it back up to running condition. I have the identification plate on the drivers door post.

    Here it is 51491485957.

    As far as I know, the transmision was the part that cratered last time.(more pictures) Please ignore that truck in the background, as it and 2 others are my family's shame(the box's and rear axle were cut off to make garbage wagons).

    Are you sure that that is the correct number on the tag?

    In my book, I can not find a number 9 for the the plant that it was made at. Most of the numbers are only 10 digits, not 11.

    Um, that is a 10 digit, not 11. I actually had to take a rubbing of it because the first two numbers were faded(the 5 I could make out but the 1 was near impossible by sight)

    Thanks 66patrick66, that really helps. I figured it was either 330 440 or a polara.

    I have one last question. When someone was trying to restore a WWII jeep and bought our Willys-Overland engine out of our portable welder, he took a look at engine, and said it was some sort of special/rare engine (note, I wasn't there, another bit from my dad). He figures he said something about a longblock though his memory is shoddy about it, and can't remember.

    Any ideas?

    Sorry, there must be something wrong with my computer. The number that is posted in the first post comes up to 11 digits.

    According to my book

    5 = Car Line - 880

    1 = Series - 170, 330, 880

    4 = Year - 1964

    9 = Assembly Plant My book shows nothing for that number. It only has

    2,3,5,6,7

    The last 6 digits represent the basic production starting at 100001 and up

    Look on the body tag located on the front fender. Most likely it will be on the drivers side and get the trim paint and other numbers that will help you to decipher what was original.

    Hope this helps

    Ron

    P.S. It's easy to read too many numbers into things.

    Okay, been looking online, and comparing pictures, it doesn't look like an 880(as the numbers suggest). Looks more closer to a 330/440 as origionally thought.

    http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/lesnikoff.html (330)

    http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/kuenzi64.html (880)

    http://www.1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/gardinierl64.html (440).

    Here's the thing that bugs me. I cannot find that emblem on the hood absolutley anywhere.

    It's not an 880, it is either a 330 or a 440. The 880 was the full-sized BIG car, sharing commonality with Chrysler Newports and New Yorkers. This is a "B"-body car, which is the mid-size line.

    Yeah, I am feeling like the ultimate idiot now....... I flipped up the glove compartment(you can laugh now, I already have) It's a 330(though don't understand why numbers didn't show likewise)
