Absolutely. I'm not sure what the measurements are on your car, but measure early Mopar B-bodies ('66-'67), Ford Mustang/Flcon/Merc Comet from the ealry to mid-'60s and you'll likely find a great candidate for an axle swap, plus there are a BUNCH of ratios for those running from 2.3:1 up through 3.91:1 and these all have a third member that drops out the front of the housing, making for very easy gear swaps, if you didn't like what you had.
Measure and hit the boneyards for a rear axle. Unless someone looked under the car, they'll never know you swapped. Trevor, I have a friend who matched a 5speed from a Chev S10 to his 1951 Ford v/8. He made the adapter plate himself. The 5speed gives him one additional gear and an overdrive gear that is about a 30% step up over a 1 to 1 tradional high gear. It made all the difference in the world for that little hard top Ford, it comes up thru the gears to hiway speed like a modern car.
I would think that you would be well pleased if you could get a little 5 speed matched to your car.

You'll need a T-5 out of an S10 2WD pickup, 1991 or earlier. The T5's out of Mustangs, and most other cars, have the shifter placed too far to the rear, and it will end up in the middle of the front seat. S10 has it placed forward. Wilcap (website is wilcap dot com) has an adapter to adapt Hudson engine to GM stick transmissions, including T5- but the owner hasn't specifically done a T5 yet, and is unsure of what to do about the pilot bushing and the short studs on the Hudson crankshaft.

A guy I knew a few years ago put '60's Ford 3 speed box and dry clutch into his '39 Hudson 112. Made up an adaptor for the bell housung and changed pilot bearing. Some guys also adapt the '37-'39 Ford gear stick to the later model Ford Toploader box for that authentic early floorshift look. The Ford trucks had a short tail shaft version which would make the swap even easier I would imagine with that big Hudson X member so close to the box. Goodluck with it. Paul.

My guess is they're not computer savvy or your emails get buried in a "sea-O-spam" - many small businesses can't afford to implement spam filters that acutally works - sometimes the old copper wire voice transmissions are better than the 21st century technologies!
