Studebaker Heaven

The other day a gentleman came into my shop and asked me to help him sell some studebakers and parts. He goes on to tell me he has 105 (yes,105) old studes he wants to sell! Not only that but he has a whole basement full of NOS parts that are still in the box!

He wants me to help him catolog everything and find out what it's all worth. Then he wants to find a single buyer to take the whole lot off his hands. My thought was to hold an auction but he doesn't want the fuss and attention. Which is too bad because it would probably be the biggest event to hit the studebaker community in years! Could you imagine an auction where 105 studes were going to be sold? Not to mention all the parts either.

So this is what I've talked him into for right now. I just started a website called 'Studebaker Heaven'. (www.studebakerheaven.com) On this site I'm going to post pics of all the rigs and parts as I start catologing them. This way everyone gets a chance to see what's up for sell. So please pass this message around for me. I would really hate to see anyone in the Studebaker community miss out on this one.

If you have any questions or even want to help out with the website just email me at mycatz2fat@mycatz2fat.com. Thank You.

Hi, I was on your web-site(Studebaker Haven.Com) and noticed a familiar licence plate, from the Boise,Idaho-Ada County area. If these are that close to home, I would like to purchase a complete car. There are some friends who would also be interested. I know that there used to be a Studebaker dealer in the South-East area of Boise. I have a friend who owns a 1949 1-Ton pick-up, and was with him when he was buying parts for it. Steve

The only way to sell off a collection this large is piecemeal, unless he wants to sell them by weight for $50 a ton, or sell the land with the cars. Almost no one out there is capable of buying 105 cars in various states of disrepair and can then afford to move them home. When they sit the brakes will rust up, just the labor alone to get them all rolling would be expensive. Additionally, even at an auction, scrap dealers will come in and buy whatever no one else jumps on. I like Studebakers too, but when you can't get people to go $500 for a running, driving Lark coupe, no one is going to spend $1500 each to have three of them shipped from Idaho to the midwest or east coast.

I would suggest using a site like eBay to sell the cars one at a time for a modest price. This will get exposure and you may sell more cars by word of mouth to people who win cars in the auction.

I know a local man with 175 Studebakers - heck, the car lot my freind owns, he has a couple and I have one too, you can still find them if you poke around.

I appreciate your concern and insight but I believe you to be wrong in this case my friend. I've been swamped with emails and phone calls and people have been coming here from all over the country buying cars and parts the past few weeks.

Just email me at mycatz2fat@mycatz2fat.com and I'll have you here in Boise before you know what hit ya. By the way,if you bring a pole and give yourself an extra day we could go down to the snake and do some fishing. Hell,I might even hook up the boat and let it tag along with us.
