Studebaker brakes
-
I have a 1952 Champion that has had the drums turned and new shoes etc. replaced. The problem I'm having is that the drums even when the backing plate bolts have been turned in, won't slide back on. They stop approximately 1" from the backing plate. Do I need to have the brake shoes shaved as they appear to be the contact issue? Thank you.

Hi, I'm making the assumtion that the brake adjusters are closed all of the way down. If not, try pulling the adjuster so the shoes are at their smallest diamater. That's what happened on a Hornet I once owned. Steve
