Will it Fit?
-
I need a gas tank for my 41 traveler. Theres one for sale on e-bay, fitting a 48-49 hudson. Anybody know if it'll fit? The one I have has three patches on it and has been exposed [without a sending unit] for aprox. eighteen years. Too rough to repair. Somebody also chiseled a section of the floorboard to get at the sending unit making a hole in the tank as well. Why they did that is beyond me because it only took fifteen minutes to pull the tank the right way. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

The stepdown gas tank won't fit your 41 Traveler as it was configured by the factory. The best interchange for your car is from the models that were made from 41-47. I believe that the tank on your car is about 16 1/2 gallon and the stepdown tanks were standard at 20 gallon so it's a bigger tank.

If you can not find a tank, you can get one custom built, like from these people.

Or maybe a universal tank will work.

I'm told you can put a step-down tank on your 40 however you have to reconfigure the filler neck and if you have a wheel well for your spare things are a little tight.
