Hello guys, i have ecountered a water pump rebuild or replace, i have a 54 hornet with ps and the old pump shot craps on the bearing od enough the shaft had so much play in it and it didnt leak but very noisy ..lol i have had a few like that in the past. after grabbing a used pump off of the shelf and inspecking it and installing it she was leaking.

now my question is, is there a diff in the overall shaft distance on a ps pump from a non ps pump. the two i have here are very very close within a 1/8 of an inch simply flange press on the shaft distance?

i have a few early pumps and stepdowns and was interested in getting kits for rebuild and or sending out the cores for rebuild to have here on the shelf knowing they are fine. i would like to know who rebuilds them at a good guy price. thanks guys

Dave Kostansek in Ohio, does that. He's in the roster, and advertises in the WTN.

I'm running out the door at this moment but his address should be on Dave Sollon's webpage, click suppliers.

There is a difference in the length of the shaft. I believe the 55-56 water pumps are the exact same as the 54 PS. Although using an earlier one will work with bringing out the flange to match. It is a little harder putting on the double pulley and lining it up. But should be OK. Also dave K will swap out the pumps anyway with the exact ones.

THANK YOU GENTLEMEN, i did line up the last pump i installed buy moving the flange, leaves a tad of centering for the fan but works the same.

i would guess Dave is closer,im running thru his turf this next week maybe i will drop a few on his lapp and grab some done if he has them. thanks again for all your responses.

I have had p/s on four different Hornets. If you do not have p/s pump, all you have to do is use 1/8" thick washer between pulley and regular hornet pump and alignment will be perfect.:)
