Here's my new project (I'll get to this one after the Hudson). A 1956 Dodge Lancer Custom Royal w/ the Super Red Ram. I'm trading tax work for it. I just like the look of these 2 door hardtops.

Its been siting for 8 years but the AZ climate hasn't done it too bad. Some rust issues on the driver's rocker and some minor surface rust on the body (mostly just oxidation). The owner's husband passed away last year and never got around to finishing a restoration on it. They drove it on their wedding day and has always been in the family.

Is there a plate somewhere that tells about the original paint color, etc. on my '56 Dodge?

js---my older brother ran a 56 dodge coronet D500 for a few years---these cars were made to make nascar requirements---they ran 354 chrysler hemi race motors and at least 500 had to be sold to the public----this car was scary fast--of course i was about 12 years old---jerry lost only one drag race by inches to a fuel injected corvette which weighted 1000 lbs less than the dodge--when jerry went into the navy--second brother randy match raced on the streets without a loss----luckily he didnt get a ticket(or get caught) and didnt cause any accidents----you can tell these cars by the crossed indy flags on the lower hood edge and the lower trunk edge---bob

I read Bob that those D500's were nice performing cars. Mine's not the D500, but I think it should still be a decent running car. I'm not looking for a lot of speed parts, they are hard to get anyway I hear, but just a nice decent daily driver that won't have the electrical issues of my Range Rover. I just hope it doesn't have too many issues when I get it home and try to get it running (since its sat for the last 8 years). I read somewhere that somebody got around 24mpg in one of these (or similar motor)! That's alot better than my Rover! And its a nice looking body style I think.
