43rd Souers Family Meet, Warren, IN
-
Just got back home from spending a super day in Warren, IN at the Souers Meet. A great turn out of cars and Hudson people. Cars included a '30 Hudson 8, a really sweet '32 Major Hudson 8, a '35 Terraplane Utility Sedan, several '41s, a '47, a great assortment of step downs including three convertables, a '54 Italia coupe, and the famous X161 four door sedan prototype. The weather was about as nice as you could hope for an early May day.

I guess yesterday was the last day for anyone to rome the field and gather any bits and pieces from the collection. "Frank Spring" can tell you more details on the parts cars in the field.

How many Jets were at the meet?
Royer - No Jets, mine decided to leak coolant at the T-stat housing to head, and the bolts didn't want to tighten - guess I've got some corrosion to deal with. Didn't have time to drill the head and install hellicoils so the bolts would tighten up properly. Sue Meyer usually brings her '54 Jetliner Club Sedan, but she road with Larry Kennedy today. Sooooo, no Jets made an appearance this year.

I went up saturday to see what was in the field of Hudson parts cars. Met Ed and his brother (sorry can't remember his name). Took a whole roll of pictures with my little camera. Sorry buts its not digital or I would post them.
I had the field of cars to myself to look around and spent about 1-1/2 hours there. There were quite a few coupes and broughms plus one Hollywood. Here in Indiana the sheet metal just can't survive the elements for as long as these have been parked.
There were quite a few Hudsons with their 308 engines still in them but its hard to say if they are rebuildable without further investigation. There were several twin H intakes with carburetors still in place but I didn't notice any linkage sets.
Ed was kind enough to tell me the stories on several of the Hudsons there.
I had fun just looking around and seeing what was there.
