52 Hornet on Ebay: nothing but the facts please

Hi I have been reading this forum for about a year. I am interested in the 52 Hornet that is on Ebay. Am I curious to know if this car is as original as the guy says it is? 1) Are not 52 engines gold? 2) If you look at the picture of the car before it was painted. The Twin H is not on the trunk. Did Hornets have Twin H engines but did not have the Twin H on the trunk?? Or did this car get a Twin H? In the description it says "I love original, unrestored cars; they're tough to find in great shape". It doesn't look too original to me. Any thoughts or do I need more schooling? Thanks Bill

This car does look to be in good shape, and has recent mech work done which is always good.
But as you point out this car is not original - the Twin-H looks like it was recently added, the paint although nice, is not original and it does have seatcovers over the original upholstery
I think this car would be a good investment - but not if you're truly looking for an original car..right now at 14k probably a fair deal but too much higher you might want to keep looking - but I'm no expert
It might help some if we new what your budget range is for your car purchase and the condition (#1-#5 or #6) you're looking for as there are lots of folks on the forum that have or know of leads on cars.

There is factory original and Hudson original. Everything on this car is Hudson original and in no way detrimental to the value. The engine was obviously pulled and the Twin H added and then painted red. Maybe the owner who did that liked red better than gold. It is not factory original but it is period Hudson original and as such is a fine car. The ad is a little overstated but the work seems nicely done. In 53 or 54 I could take my original car to any Hudson dealer and say please add Twin H. They would added it and applied the Twin H badge. Seat covers are the correct type I even have a factory ad for these. Looks good but I doubt it will sell as I believe the reserve is about 20K just my guess from the rhetoic in the ad.www.hudsonmotorcar.org

The owner of this car is a car person who owns senior classics as well as the Hudson. He spent a long time looking at cars before purchasing this car. It is as stated, an original New Mexico car that was maintained and repainted to suit the previous owner. During the owners search for this car, he visited me and spent several hours examining my rust free 1953 sedan. Armed with pictures and first hand experience to examine other cars, he finally found the car he now has for sale. I asked the owner why he was selling and his answer was to change his car direction... but not to leave Hudsons totally. The owner is a super person and I think anyone who would be contacting him would find what I say to be true. While I have not seen the car in question, the owner has told me it is a very nice car. Don't forget that Twin-H didn't happen until April or May of '52, so probably most new '52s with Twin-H had it dealer installed as a retrofit, rather than at the factory.

OK, I confess. I won the auction. I sent the check this morning and my application for HET Club membership at the same time. The car should arrive in Texas within a few weeks. Ken, the owner has many kind words about you. I can't wait to get involved with the Hudson community and meet some of you folks! -
