I have a possiblity of getting 1950 ford, the body is in fair to good shape. wanted to update motor and transmittion to a newer and more dependable units. what combination would be the easy to drop into this type of body. some combination which would required the least amount of modification and no welding. thank for any help

why get rid of the flathead? I own a 1950 ford fordor custom. rebuilt the old 239 by doing the following. bored out .30 magnafluxed ,pressured checked water jacket(o.k.) new pistons, stock connecting rods, stock crank was good,Isky 3/4 race cam,new valves, springs, solid adj.lifters, elderbrock alum. heads, elderbrock alum. four barrel manifold, holley 390 carb.,tubular hedders ,10" ford truck flywheel 10"comp.clutch,with a borg warner t-10 four speed, mallory electronic dist.(12 volt).starts first time everytime.goes like a "raped ape". flatheads are easy to work on and are reliable, parts are easy to find. they bolt right in (slight modification to the rear transmission mounts on crossmember).

do you mean you want a latye model engine -- any small block ford engine will fit with little trouble-- crties makes a motor mount kit if you want to put a FE [352/427] in it or a 429 or 460

i dont understand the no welding part-- ???
