dana 60 with pinion snubber
-
i found the mentioned axle under a 72 dodge truck at the pick-a-part--i have been cutting down these axles for muscle cars and rods--and i was shocked to find the pinion snubber provision on this axle---i cut it down, welded on 8 3/4 housing ends and slipped in some stock 30" 8 3/4 axles and viola---my son appropriated it for his 72 cuda project---oh well---i wanted you mopar gearheads to keep an eye out---an old friend told me that mopar had a habit of clearing out the old stock---he said in 1965 when they realized 426 wedges werent selling they restamped the blocks 413 and tossed them out in newports---likewise when they dumped the 8 3/4 they stuck them under valiant 6 cyl 3 speed cars and sent them away----anyway keep an eye out i figure the axle i bought for $79 was worth at least $900 as a bare housing--it would be a shame to lose anymore to the crusher---bob

Interesting post Bob
I would guess that you would have to know how to tell what you exactly have when you look at it though. Where is a good place to find the correct numbers to be sure that you are getting the right part that you seek?
I have a couple of friends that are "Mopar Guys" and they would be happy to hear this information.
Thanks again
Ron
