One serial number source I dug up gave 1953 serial numbers 202917 to 269059 and 1954 269060 up.
So I might go out on a limb and say with that number it would be a 1954 308.

If it is a bare block and you can see the top of the cylinders look at the valve area the 54 308 Block will have the valve relief i.e Super Induction. If you post a pic I can tell you for sure.www.hudsonmotorcar.org

I got a little chuckle out of this site. I know I have some serial number info somewhere, but I can never find it when I need it, so I thought that I'd like to copy and save the list printed there. Even though it gives credit to the source of the info as the White Triangle News (which I'm sure I have around here somewhere), when I highlighted it and tried to right click on it, up came the warning, "Sorry, no snagging!" -

In addition to all this, the block casting date is located immediately below the distributor boss... probably just above the number you've provided. This casting date can be almost impossible to see with the engine in the car. The numbers will be in a format such as "D1552", which would decode as April 15, 1952 ("D" being the fourth letter in the alphabet, corresponding to the fourth month). Sometimes the year will be noted as a single digit, making the above example "D152". On very rare occasions I've seen a casting date earlier than the car assembly date, but most of the time it will come close to the dates located in locations such as the back of the clock, radio, etc. There is also usually a similar casting date on the bottom of the intake manifold, but this is not accessible unless the intake/exhaust manifolds are removed from the engine.Workin Stiff

Hi to all you Hudson moguls out there & a big "Thank You" to each & every one who answered my post for year information. I was told that it was a 54 block & I thought that I could identify it as such after I removed the head, but alas, I could not remember how much relief showed on the earlier blocks. Thanks again.---Cliff Minard.

Of course if you had a copy of my General Information Handbook you would find not only 1948-1954 Monthly Model Year Production data, but also production and shipping data 1948 thru 1954 AND 1946-1947 Model Year production numbers. Plus a lot of other data for 1909 thru 1957, including Essex and Terraplane, right at your finger tips.

Got the information into an Excel spreadsheet by highlighting it, then doing a "Ctrl-C", and then went to the spreadsheet and did a "Ctrl-V". Pasted right in... FYI, for those of you who don't usually use the keyboard commands -
Pressing the "Ctrl" and the "C" keys = Copy
(copies whatever you have highted)
Pressing the "Ctrl" and the "V" keys = Paste
(pastes whatever you have copied)
These commands are generic to most applications/programs within Windows. -
My thanks, as well, to you guys. I've learned more than I know what to do with. Alex, it's only pointless procrastination and absentmindedness that has kept me from ordering your info package. I'll contact you shortly.
