1979 aspen w/problems
-
hi, new guy here. I have a 1979 Dodge Aspen V8 5.2L that i am tryin to fix....The only problem is I think I have a fuel problem. Lemme explain, it has the electronic spark control system attached to the air filter housing over the carb. and i think it is causing problems with the fuel (too lean/too rich) but i don't know how to tell if it is too lean or too rich, or how to adjust that.. also if i try to accelerate too much (punch it) it hickups and instead of getting ROAR with horsepower and speed i get roar---roar---roar....I NEED HELP!! please someone respond

Try the forum at www.moparstyle.net/forums and there are a couple of them that can help you - either the "F"-body, Forgotten "B"-body, or the Mechanical forums will have your answer for you.
These are great guys and not a bunch of smartasses and hooligans, like are at the moparts.com site."The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings..." -
Welcome to the group griish
I have a Mitchell Exhaust Emission System manual that describes the Chrysler Electronic Feedback Carburetor and some testing and diagnosis if you need it. I would be happy to copy it and send it to your e-mail if you like. I do believe that Patrick has the right solution and joining the other board with people that have "been there, Done that" will get your answers maybe faster and easier.
I have worked on these systems years ago and the one thing you need to remember is "Patience". They can drive you to fits if you let them.
Best of luck with the car.

uhmmm...
With my old car, i use its Mercedes repair manuals whenever there's a simple problem that I may fix. With those that's quite complicated, I consult it to my bro or the mechanic to ensure that I'm on the right track. -
try http://www.dippy.org they have some pages of information and a very good forum.
