A little help here
-
I must be a big dummy. I burnt out a front turn signal bulb on my 1940 Packard 120.
The small running light on the top of the fender. Try as I might I cant get to the bulb to replace it. I've searched for a screw, tried turning the lens, just about everything except removing the whole fixture from the fender.
Surley one of you Packard Masters out there can guide me thru this. What am I doing wrong?

You sure you don't just rotate the lens about 1/8 turn, then pull it out toward you? I have a fender light from a (non-Packard) 1937 car and that's how it comes out. If it does rotate slightly but doesn't easily come out, you might try working it slightly, back and forth to loosen it.

One lens freely turns all the way around, but the one that burned out is frozen in place. I'm not sure which way to turn it without breaking it.
At first I thought it just unscrewed but it just goes round and round. (the good one).
I know the lens are hard to come by and expensive when you find them. I'll try your suggestionand try working it back and forth.
Thanks for your reply - headed to the garage

That did it Jon. I broke it free and it went half round then came out easy.
Dern bulb looks ok but the socket is crusty in there. I'll give it a good cleaning in the morning.
Thanks again

The best way to free up those frozen bulbs to have a friend grab the bulb as tight as possible.....Then go to the back of the car pick it up and spin it around a couple of times....Works like a charm

A little late here but in removing the parking light lens you need to turn the stainless steel ring that the lens is attached to rather than the just the lens.
