Im trying to restore my 1951 Chryler New Yorker to its original color. I can't find any sites that have any info on it, and there are no places where I live who want to bother with restoration projects. The plate on the firewall says body color number is 36 and the trim color is 24. Anybody who can direct me in any way please help.

Number 36 is Stone Gray
Number 24 is Blue cloth
I believe the engine was silver......... maybe, lol
try autocolorlibrary.com for the color.
Have you looked around for a local group that may be in to these cars. I know that they are quite popular.
If you have more problems try joining the A.A.C.A. web site. There's a guy by the name of Frank that is excellent on the Chrysler products and a great guy to talk to.
Enjoy the project and keep us posted as to the progress.

Your engine should be silver.
Go to www.nybclub.org for a vibrant and active Chrysler New Yorker forum and picture site for all years of NY from 1936 all the way to the last ones of 1994."The time has come", the Walrus said, "to speak of many things. Of shoes and ships and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings. And why the sea is boiling hot,
And whether pigs have wings..."
