I know that the Pacemaker is on a shorter wheelbase. What I was wondering

about is all the difference in the front end? Are the bodies the same?

    Thanks Larry

Yes the body is the same. Doors, hood roof.. The trim is somewhat different (cheaper) The firewall is set back to allow the engine to fit.

doors - roof - trunk - rear quarters - skirts are the same though there may some variations with trim holes.
front fenders hood and front fender extensions are wheelbase dependent also rocker panels

from the cowl back the cars are essentally the same though some differences exist in the floor area to accomodate the inset firewall. components from the cowl forward may or may not vary with the wheelbase i.e. front suspension parts are the same but the steering on the shortwheelbase uses some different parts. a pacemaker has smaller brakes but can be upgraded to the larger.

    Hi Guys,

This is a great post, because I was going to ask the same question today. I am starting to look for some panels for my Super Six and was wondering the same thing as far as interchangability.

Hi Bob---Both the Supers & Commodores were on a 124" wheelbase for 51. The Pacemaker was the only short wheelbase car for that year at 119"---Cliff Minard.

bob, ignoring trim holes, here are some basics for your 51 sheetmetal.
hornet super or commodore front sheetmetal from 51-53
    doors from 48-53 (3 types coupe/broughm, 4dr sedan, cvt/hollywood)
quarters from 48-51 (52-3 with some work as the bumper is moved (2 types cp/cvt/broughm/hollywood, 4 dr)
    deck lid from 51-53 (2 types broughm/4dr, cpe/cvt/hollywood)

    Hi again Guys,

Thanks for the info. I was just trying to make sure the doors for any two-door would fit any other, regardless of wheelbase.

    Thanks,

    Bob

Think the rear quarter windows are not the same too. front wing windows are push out instead of crank-out type. Less trim, less frills. 232 engine. But if you wanted more trim in 1950 for your Pacemaker you could by the slightly upscale 50A Pacemaker Deluxe.
