1946 rear axle

I am in the process of changing the factory frame over to the mustang 2 front end and replace the old rear with a ford 9" can any one tell me what length of axle i might need in order to put a newer standard off set rim in the fender. I am also looking for ideas as to how far of a drop i want in the suspension any ideas or pics would be greatly appreciated.
