windshield swap
-
has anyone on this board ever attempted to replace the windshields in 48-53 stepdowns with a one piece windshield from a 1954?
-
This would be possible with extensive alterations to the shape of the front of the body work, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Geoff.If you're stuck in a hole, stop digging. -
Bill, Best bet would be to go to a rod and custom shop and have either them or a glass fabricator fab a custom one for you either in glass or plastic.
-
The factory had to create a new filler piece to go between the cowl vent and the base of the windshield. This was to allow for the flatter curve of the one-piece windshield.Workin Stiff

Keep in mind the scarcity of the '54 windshield, when regarding future replacements, etc.

I was just thinking about this question the other day while reading thru my Custom Rodder mag. Glad you brought it up Bill. -

Dollar for dollar you'd be better of buying a 54 to get that styling

This link used to go to a better website but they make one piece conversion kits for some cars...maybe theyd do one for a Hudson? -
Why screw up a good looking car to make an ugly one?
