How can you test horns/Also 1965 Chevelle turn signals
-
Is there any tests to check if horns are working when they are out of the car?
Also, The turn signals on my 1965 Chevelle do not work properly. When the right front side (From the drivers seat) is turned on it works fine. When the left front one is turned on both signals flash very dimly at the same time.
The rear turn signals, dash turn signals, parking and brake lights work fine on the back but the left front parking light does not work. Any suggestions?
Thanks -
Most horns are a single wire type horn. That means that all you should have to do is apply power to the terminal on the horn, then ground the horn. It should then sound. You did not say what the horns were from so I will caution as to what they came out of. If they are 6 volt horns, do not connect them to a 12 volt battery.
As to the turn signals, it appears that you have a feedback in the left turn signal. Have you replaced the bulb? -
The horns are from the same 1965 Chevelle. A 12 volt unit. I tried putting power to one as you suggested and it sounded once but would not do it again.
Yes, I have replaced the bulbs and also checked the wiring harness throughly. -
You must have solved this problem by now. It sounds like a ground is bad left front.
make sure you have a good ground on the horn also. it worked once.
