H.E.T. cars at National

Can anyone who was recently at the National in Kearny give an actual estimate on the number of HET vehicles there as well as the number of vendors?

First let me say that this is just my own personal estimate, but we arrived on Wednesday night and stayed till Saturday, and I'm guessing there were probably around 300 cars altogether. Mostly stepdowns, of course. Several early Essex', a few Terraplanes, some Pre/Post War era, and quite a few Modifieds. There was even one 1/8? scale radio controlled Commodore Coupe that attracted quite a crowd wherever it went. Walt and Margaret Mordenti were there with a newly installed rack and pinion steering system in their beautiful '53 Hornet.
There must have been 25-30 vendors of all shapes and sizes set up in the swap meet. Everything from parts cars, drivers, to sheetmetal, lots of chrome, lots of stainless trim, engines, transmissions, Dave Kostansek, Dale Cooper, K-Gap, Doug Wildrick, etc. I was able to squirrel away a few little 'gems' for great prices, so I was happy. -
I was not able to get up until Friday and the numbers I saw were quite different.
Cars: 75-100
Vendors 10-15
It sounds like the beginning of the week was the best time to get there but I still found some well needed items and lots of great end of the week bargins.
Most importantly, I was able to meet many of the great people I have conversed with on the phone or email which really helped to re-ignite my projects! Everyone was really great and it really helped me feel much more a part of the Greater Hudson Club and Community by attending, I just wish I could have gotten there earlier!
Next year its going to be different!! -
In a meeting on Thursday they announced that there were 119 that is driveable cars; and approx two dozen old clunkers(parts cars or rebuilders) for sale.
There were 5 cars up for the Bill Allbright award. -

Do these numbers hold for the beginning of the week? There are more cars at our local cruise nights. -

No they are not true as posted earlier 119 drivable cars plus a dozen part cars. Friday is the last day of the meet and there is a general meeting. No parts can be sold during the meeting. So Friday is a shut down and clean up day. We had everything put away by noon of friday. Realistic there was about 25-30 vendors. It was hard to find a spot to set up. Most people were there by a week earlier on Saturday -
F.Y.I.--
The gent. with the '49 remote control scale model is Richard Larson from Sioux Falls, S. Dakota. The model was 'hand built' by Richard back in the late '70's--early '80's, I forget how many hours he said he spent on it, and I've never seen one remotely close to it anywhere. He also has the 'full size' big brother to it, but didn't get to drive it to Kearney 'cause the transmission swap didn't get finished in time ! He bought a trans. adapter from Dany Spring to put a 700R4 behind the fresh 308 in his '49 coupe. I'm anxious for a ride in it, so I hope he calls me some night in the near future ! !
