351 Cleveland - needs more pep

I'm looking for some guidance as to how to beef up my 72 Cougar. It has a 351 Cleveland 2V. Still has points and condensor. 2.73 gears. Virtually all original stock vehicle. It's a great cruiser, but just lacks that throw you back in the seat kick. Any suggestions? Regards,
