Upon Looking for a head gasket for my 1950 dodge meadowbrook I ran into trouble in that the one I ordered was too short for my block. I need to find out what kind of engine I have, if it is original, the size and specs and where to find a gasket for it. the Engine number is as follows: S8-952I3
body number: 22342S
Can anyone help me on this?
Thanks,
Jack -
The damn thing has a 341 Chrysler mill in it. I'm off to stuff the gasket in the turkey and make it spin....

Jack;
Can you post or e-mail me a picture of your Dodge?

If you hve a 341, then it's from a 1957 DeSoto and a V-8 -
it is a 241 chrysler. Or so I'm told. the fellow over at olson gasket in port orchard washington knew what I was talking about right away and said that he has seen a few 1950 dodges with chrysler 241s in them.... I dunno, sounds suspicious. thanks for the help, keep it up.

The prefix "S-8" indicates a 1941 Desoto. S-10 = 1942, S-11 = 1946,47,48, S-13 = 1949, S-14 = 1950, S-15 = 1951, etc.

My brother is currently in the process of scrapping a 1950 Dodge Meadowbrook. The engine is a 6-cylinder flathead. I do not know the displacement, although it has 66K original miles on it. Is there anyone here that would be interested in knowing more about it?

50 Dodges originally had a 230CID engine in them. This was the "short' block used also in Plymouths as opposed to the Long block used in Chryslers and DeSotos.
-
There's one other possibility: Canadian-made Mopars all had the 25" block, regardless of displacement, running, I think, all the way from 218 to 265 cu. in.
I'm interested in how the longer block was fitted into a 1950 Dodge--my recollection of the fit of the short block is that there is very little room to spare.... -
I installed a Chrysler flathead 6 in my 1950 dodge and had to beat in the firewall slightly. This was 25 years ago. I still have the dodge but have gone back to the 230.
Question: To change a 218 to 230, do I simply use the 230 crank (longer stroke) and rods? Is there anything else different? Are the heads identical? -

Yes I want to know some information about the 6 cylinder flathead. -
I am looking for the chrome fender trim. There would be 6 pieces in all. Just started a complete restore on a 1950 meadowbrook.

would be interested in all parts that are available. Would also be interested in learning about additional web sites that can help me obtain things for the meadowbrook. Thanks, John:) -
