Help with motor

I have what I believe to be a 1948 Frazer 4-door. It has no motor or transmission. Would someone like to help me determine what the original motor was, and if there are any easy alternatives (ie later years Ford or Chevy). I probably won't go into any restoration work unless I can find a fairly easy solution to the no motor problem.

Also, I have seen an ad for a non-running Kaiser Super Sonic 6L161 engine for sale. Would this be nearly the same? And any advice on a good rebuilder for this type of engine in the Midwest would be appreciated.

The car you have most likely was origionally equipped with a 226 ci inline six made by Continental motors. These powered most of the KF line from beginning to end {big cars} I have one I'd sell you if interested. This is non running -needs an overhaul but is all there.

Thanks for the reply and info. I am really looking more for something that might be running. Maybe a 70s Ford six would fit? Is the before-mentioned Kaiser engine too different, or do you know any of the specs on that?

Are these engines easily rebuildable (ie by me a non-mechanic)? How hard is it to find rebuild parts? If you were to have someone else do the rebuild, any ideas as to a shop you would use?

    Thanks

Kanter has all of the parts for a rebuild. I think an inline motor would be harder to put in there than a small block v8. You'd have to make sure that the inline motor wasn't any longer than the 226 that's in it. Still the motor that would be easiest to put in would be the stock engine unless you are looking for more power, then I would say a v8 would be easier than the inline. Transdapt makes a universal engine mount crossmember for small block chevy's and fords that would make swapping a v8 into the old girl pretty easy.
