    Hi All I could sure use some help here I purschased what I believe to be a 351 Windsor and have been trying to identify it as such with the casting numbers but I have had no luck. If someone could help me out I would greatly apprecate it I need to know what year this motor is if it is a 351 Windsor as I expect and if you can tell me if it is a truck or a car motor and what horsepower it left the factory as. It has a stock four barrell manifold on it. The casting numbers on my motor are E3AE-6015-BA 17 I also would appreciate any information on where you acquired your information so I would be able to find it myself in the future. Thank you for your help in advance. I do greatly appreciate it. Gary

    If Ford's part #'s haven't changed, your engine is from 1983.

    E3=1983

    A=Ford (or Galaxie, but obviously the year doesn't match with that)

    E=Engine

    6015 is the part number for a cylinder head, if I'm not mistaken.

    BA- I *think* (probably wrong) is for a 302.

    This is all pretty much from memory, so the info may not be entirely correct, but hopefully it will get you started.

    The number you post is a part number.

    MNeedham73 is pretty close.

    E = Decade ( In your case = 80's)

    3 = Year of that decade (1983)

    A = Full size Ford

    E = Engine Group

    6015 = Engine

    The suffix on any part is an engineering thing.

    A single letter will tell you if the part is Original = A, 1st. Revision = B, 2nd revision = C

    The next letter wil tell you how many times the part was revised i.e. A = 1st time, B = 2nd, C = 3rd and so on

    I don't believe that you can tell if it was a Cleveland or Windsor from this number. I can say that the Windsor fuel pump had a valve of sorts on the top of the section that goes from the diaphram to the engine block whereas the Cleveland does not.

    I also think I remember that the Windsor had spark plugs that were taken out with 3/4" socket and the Cleveland had plugs that were taken out with 5/8.

    Of course they all say that the mind is the first to go so do your research well and I have been wrong once or twice in my life, lol.

    I also think that ford did not document their casting numbers as well as G.M.

    If you can find someone with a good parts manual for your year it will help. I have a book but it only goes to 1976. Sorry.

    I hope some of this helps.

    Ron
