Hornet Nameplate/Rockets
-
I thought 51's were black. 52's and newer were red. Is that right?
-
Bull Islander, you're about 90% correct. Actually the Hornet rockets for 51 were black ,the rockets for 52 were red and the rockets for 53 were a slightly darker red than the 52's . Actually they were a bit closer to maroon. The same was true for the painted triangle on full size hubcaps for the 52 and 53 Hudson as well. The 51 cap center was painted red. The tailight plastic inserts came in two colors. The 48-9 inserts were black and the 50-1 tailight inserts were red. These of course were for the Commodores and Hornets as the Supers and Pacemakers had no plastic ornament inserts .
