what model is my car?
-
I just bought a 1950 Desoto and know absolutely nothing about the car. I am hoping to restore it, but I need to know what model it is. For my year there were 2 different models, a Custom and a Deluxe. Unfortunately the title does not specify which one it is. It is so hard to find parts for this thing when you do not know what it is. Can any one help me?

I wouldn't think that it would matter what model you have for most of the parts.
This is from the Standard Catalog of American Cars, hope it helps you
Model name Model Code Assembly Plant Staarting numbers
Delux 6 cyl S14-S Detroit 6,233,501
Los Angles 60,005,001
Custom 6 cyl S14-C Detroit 50,062,001
Los Angles 62,011,501
See what the plate on the door hinge says and compare it to these numbers.
Best of luck with the car
Ron
