HydraMatic Trouble HELP!!

    Hey,

I have a 64 caddy sedan deville which I received without an engine and transmission, I dropped a 59' cadillac 390 in it with the proper transmission I obtained from a man named "Cadillac Ron" who lives in my area. I rebuilt the transmission because the front seal was totally shot out and was leaking all over the place. After a hellacious week of rebuilding it I got it back in, got all the pressure, etc right and she drove perfect. After about 2-3 weeks of driving, she suddenly does not want to upshift unless I back off the throttle. And when I do back it off I can only get her in 2nd. I've rebuilt it a second time with the help of friend of mine who works at a local transmission shop and put it back in. Drove fine once again tonight it happened again when going cruisin with some buddies, I replaced my control arm bushings and took her out and she was good to go. Then suddenly after a red light didnt want to upshift again =-/.

I've got her tuned perfectly and have adjusted the TV rod several times as well as the vacuum modulator. I dont understand what could be causing this problem..

I realize its a different transmission and the ratios arent the same in the 50 tranny as they are in the 64 driveshaft.

But I dont think this should matter since it was tweaked to shift perfectly.

If anyone has any ideas of what the problem might be I would GREATLY appreciate any help....I'm stumped basically

I dont wanna throw anymore cash into this tranny if it's going to fart out on me.

Vacuum modulator? Hmmm, it should have a dual coupling hydramatic if it is from a 59 Cad and I don't think it had a modulator. Two possibilities: Governor is defective, rear clutch is acting up and not engaging. Had same problem in 60 Poncho.
