I know these can be purchased as a repro but how about how a guy can remove the paint thats left in the orig.one and then repaint them ? has anyone got any great idea for removing the paint without injuring the plastic surface ? any help would be appricated.

I used a real small screwdriver and scrapped out all the old paint. I repainted the White triangle white, the chrome ships were still intact, so left them alone. Painted the red section candyapple red. Looks real good, and the whole thing lights up at night, not just the white triangle. Same for the rear. If there are some small cracks on the outside, just rub with your finger a couple of drops of 3-in-one oil.Eliminates small cracks for a couple of days. You can also use NewTire on plastic also. If the chrome sections are still good ,leave them alone, and scrape around them.

K-Gap also sells these as new reproductions made from modern acrylic plastic. They're really nice looking parts.
