I am in the process of rebuilding a 350 olds engine. Its time to put the crankshaft in. I am using the old rope type rear main bearing seal, and I am not real sure how to do it. I could not find a neoprene rear seal for it. How do you pack the rope seal in the block? Also how much of it do you cut off and with what? What do you use to pack the seal in the bearing cap with and do you use any kind of silacone sealer?
