30's rear axle shafts vs stepdown axle shafts

    Are mid 30's to stepdown rear axle shafts much the same design? ie do they have the same splines, tapers, bearing seats at each end, and just different lengths for the different models?

    Looks like axle ends (inner and outer) are the same 36-47. Axle length increased in '38. Parts book suggests the axles on the small sixes (3 x 4 1/8) might be an exception. Stepdowns through early '52 are same as 36-47 at the outer end, but the differential gear is different, so the inner end of the axle may differ . . . splines, diameter, etc.
