212 cam bearings
-
Hi All, I'm looking for some info on what years of the 212's were the cam bearings the same. I bought some bearings stating there are for 38 to 47. I tried the fit on a 37 cam and the front and middle cams fit fine but the rear bearing is very loose. I know they changed the cam in 40 with the distributor on top, but when did they change the rear bearing.
Any help much appreciated.

Camshafts were changed in '41 with the introduction of the top mounted distributor, hence the bearing would be longer at the rear, not sure of diameter. Up to and including 1937 the bearings were solid babbit, from 38 onwards they were steel-backed.If you're stuck in a hole, stop digging.

Go to the mechanical procedures manuals Alex has posted online. All the dimensions are there. The early 'fat ones' are not available. Gotta make em. I had a couple made from Aluminum. The later 'skinny' ones are available from Dale Cooper.

Gene, I have what I believe is correct for that cam. If you are looking for a set email me at:
