I've been driving the '54 coupe a bit recently and noticed that when I apply the brakes, the Treadle-Vac unit "sucks" so much vacuum the engine stalls. Will adding a reserve tank help?

The 54 I had with power brakes came with a vacuum tank, it was fairly large , oblong
piece. Seem to remember it was mounted on passenger inner fender?

as lostmind says, there should be a reserve and it is quite sizable, enough to support a couple applications after the engine stalls. I am thinking its is a closed system and having the tank on a running system my assist in the application, would not effect what the engine sees. I suspect that upon application, the piston of the vaccum portion is bypassing allowing it to suck outide air.
