This looks like a very nice project car. Great candidate for "they are only original once." It has a reserve and I must say if the bidding goes much higher it would be overpriced?

Looks to have some fun stuff with the wires and the twin H. How hard is it to find center caps for the wires?

Kgap used to offer the center caps for the wires, with the red triangle. I located another '53 in better shape and got it road worthy last year. It was on eBay also, but listed under "advertising" We got it for $7000. This car had sunvisor, spotlight, foglights, backup lights, sunshades, was already converted to 12V. You are correct, I cannot see myself paying more than $4K for this one on eBay now. The cosmetics on this car are so much worse than the $7000 one.

I think that Chevy Vega hubcaps fit those wire wheels. Not original , but used to be easier to get. They are plain caps , without badging. I'm going by memory, which is not real reliable at this stage.
I owned a 48 Commodore that was sold originally at Bell motors in Cleveland , same place as this car.

Yesterday, I had a pleasant conversation with the well informed lady who answers the phone at Rally America Hot wheels. She informed me that the stainless caps for Hudson wirewheels are custom made by a single person. These caps can be ordered and the schedule for delivery worked out at the time of ordering, Also noted that the same company offers the plain stainless cap which might be the ticket for those who have the ability to have the red triangles cut at your sign shop and then affixed???? Check them out, they do wheels too so that might satisfy others who have posted about wheels for Hudsons?

Rallyamerica is a good company to deal with based on my recent experience. They scratch built a set of wire wheels for my friends 57 Golden Hawk.

I'll also put in a good word for Ralleyamerica. They offered to identify some 1930's wire wheels for me. I had gone to their site for ID photos. Very pleasant experience , they correctly id'd
them from photos I sent , and I was able to sell them to restorers who needed them.
I first offered them to Ralleyamerica at a reduced price , because they were so helpful.
Good people to deal with , a lot of fellows at the Jalopy Journal HAMB site use them.

The seller wants $6500 for it, which is too high for IMHO for the condition of the car.

car sold for 7100.00 you experts on here are always picking other peoples cars apart no matter the year or condition of them. as usual you experts on pricing are not so expert, as most of us know a car is worth what someone will pay for it. you guys really need to get a life other than being so negative about cars that don,t belong to you. p.s. its not 1970 when anything hudson was very cheap.

2manyprojects, good for you, that someone was willing to pay that much for a very shabby, non running, but probably mostly solid car. But we DO have the right to critique any car that is up for sale on this discussion board, and if you don't like reading it, like we say: "If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen." I got a much better car than that for $7000 just a few months ago. This car that just sold is gong to be a long term project. The interior is toast. There probably is rust issues in the rear of the car as well. Once you put a car up on the market, people will discuss it. There's nothing wrong with what we said. No apologies are forthcoming from any of us.

I won't comment the last discussions. The only thing I know is, if I had to buy a car, I would put it here and ask about it. Any comment would be welcome cause, there is a lot of experience here, and some of the guys here have eyes that can detect a lot of tiny details that could be very costly for a buyer who would not see it. After that, I would make my own decision about buying it or not.. Michel . By the way, there is a new Pope in town...and I think is Message will be about Peace, especialy in the Hudson Club!

If the car sold for $7500 why is it saying reserve not met?

Could it be that a shill bidder kited the bidding? Just askin'.

hudsn47, yeah I noticed the same thing.....I am beginning to think 2manyprojects is not the owner that was selling it, unless he contacted the high bidder and decided to let it go for the $7100 high bid. If I had a car in that condition (which I can find in the 3500-5000 range every so often) and someone offered me $7100 for it, it would be sold for a tidy 45 to 100% profit.

Dave, I suspect that the bidder with 0 feedback may have been a shill bidder. He was bidding on 23 cars in the past 30 days, so that says something......
