Hudson Pickup Tailgate - on eBay - Caution!

Looks like a 46-47 tailgate (?), or at least part of one. Appears to be missing the ends - somebody apparently cut a bit off of each side, possibly trying to make it fit a narrower bed?

The seller has actually got a bid on it - hopefully the bidder knows that it isn't 'whole', otherwise there will probably be a bit of bidder's remorse... :(( -
Looks like it would be best for hanging on the garage wall as a display piece.

Who knows---
Might just need the letters--fabricate or restore what ya got, cut out letters, weld into new or refurbished original w/ bad letters.
Had a good friend that did exactly that w/ two tailgates.
