Looking for the ARP part number for 1/2" head studs with a 2" thick head. Also who sells them and how much.

I was able to get them from hot rod shops but be sure & take a sample so you get the right threads.

The ARP application for big block Chevy (396-454) mains has been mentioned as applicable to Hudson, the threads are correct for head and block and the head thickness is ok, however, the leaving 2.5" clearance for the head prevents the lower threads form seating and you almost certainly get water seeping from the studs on a warm engine.

    FYI

I suggest contacting Randy Maas @ 21st Century Hudson I know he sells ARP Studs for Clifford Head's so probably has them for stock head's as well.

ARP sells standard lengths of studs, no need to hunt for the right size from something else. Go to their website and you can download their catalog or request a print one.

I looked at ARP on line prior to posting my question. They only show stud kits for specific engines and Hudson aint one of em. I saw no charts for part numbers based on length and diameter. I figure I need a 4" long stud X 1/2 with a six point nut.

I have misplaced my catalog, but could've swore they had studs, usually packs of 5.

Not packs... Individual at that size:

Fastenal has what you need,$40.00 for 21 cadium plated ,grade eight and they have grade #9 washers. This what I used to up grade to the 1/2 size. I believe they were 3'' long. Then put 90 ft pounds to them.

Really don't believe you need studs for a stock motor. 1/2 bolts work just fine. Pulling to 90 lbs I think is excessive for stock--I only go to 80lbs on my race motor with 12-1 compression with the new best gasket and have had no problems. I would only go 75 lbs. Any more you are warping the head and pulling on the cylinders and distorting unless you honed with a torque plate.
