Step Down Carpet
-
Who's the recommended or favored carpet source. When I get it, I'm considering cutting a hole in carpet for m/c access. My cover has been black powder coated so hopefully it wouldn't be too much of an eyesore. Or would it be better to do velcro on the edge to get to it. Have requested samples from SMS. I'm favoring cut pile, think it would be easier to clean than loop.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions,
Kim -
I'm fairly sure that a remote reservoir kit was avaliable that replaced the Master cylinder cap. I I think you could make one fairly easy if an original could not be found then you would not have to deal with carpet access at all.

Erwin Sanchez-Flores made those remote reservoir kits. I have one that I have yet to install.

There are multiple sources for remote reservoir kits. Erwin's reservoir is well made by a HET member.

I just cut and glued the carpet to the top of the cap. Just lift it up to get to the master cylinder. Just be careful not to get brake fluid on the carpet. I use a funnel to add fluid.

I bought my carpet from Kanter for my 50 brougham and am pleased with it. Richie.

I talked to Bob Rosol recently, the Hudson Club member who sells convertible tops. He told me that he also sells very nice carpets for Hudsons. Russell Chilton ,commented on here recently, that he has bought a couple of carpets from Bob, and intends to buy more. Bob said they are about $350 a set if I remember right. Bob is in New York, phone # 908-273-2370.
