James, I've called up the seller he and posted what he wants to sell the car for on the HET club forums.

Yeah, the headlights could be off of many things. They remind me of the overly small ones that came on Nashes of this same vintage. I've seen batteries moved like this in the past up here in the North. It's been years, but if I recall right, it was thought that long cables made for more resistance in the cold of winter. I surely remember what a bother it was to jump a car when the battery was under the floor, or worse, under the seat.

No. Go to hetclub.org , log in and click on the forum tab. I do not mind the Classic car forums but they have been giving a lot of members trouble logging in or having the website timing out on them (504 or 404 errors).

Are you saying that you know the asking price of the car that I was kind enough to post to this forum, but you won't tell me unless I join your club?

James P, my '36 Terraplane has the battery under the front seat, and it spent 17 months parked in an open carport with no attention whatsoever, including going through a freezing cold winter with snow and ice. I opened the door, sat down, turned on the ignition, pulled out the choke and pressed the starter button. After approximately 20 seconds, the car started. That is 6 volts and some pretty good thick battery leads. Compression is 7.3:1. So in my experience, 6 volts and the battery under the seat is perfect. This is a true story. Why anyone would want 12 volts is incomprehensible.

Terraplane8, I never moved a battery either and I've lived my whole life in MN. I was just relating what the reason guys sometimes did move their batteries.

I emailed the seller's contact person about a year ago. The car is in central Manitoba. He was asking $5000 Canadian and was pretty firm on the price.
