51 Commodore 6 Engine Paint Color
-
I am about to detail the engine of my 1951 Commodore 6 Hollywood Hardtop. It is currently silver/aluminum in color and I want to confirm that this is correct. Also, can anyone recommend a high temp paint for this application?
-
Duplicolor 500 degree engine paint, in "Aluminum" color. Available at most parts stores. Very good match to the original. Don't put it on too heavily --- you want the grainy texture of the cast iron to show.
-
Park is that the "cast aluminum" engine paint? I think there is two, one is very bright silvery, and the other a less bright, more correct color I think it is "Cast aluminum" DE1651, the other is "Aluminum" DE1615. Which do think is the closer color?
-
Ken, it's the DE1615 I've been using. Wasn't even aware of the other one, but have seen some engines that were definitely too "chromey" looking.
