Does anyone have the detailed wiring diagram for 1940 o/d please? My understanding is that the kickdown switch energises the relay, which activates the solenoid, which kicks the mechanical govenor, and also momentarily grounds the coil. I have a "Motor" manual, but not the Hudson manual, and it is not very detailed.If you're stuck in a hole, stop digging.
