Upon lookin for a rear end for my 47 p/up I stumbled across a Late 80s or early 90s Jeep Cherokee rear end that is the perfect width, wheel bolt pattern(4 1/2 bolt circle) and the d-shaft yoke is even the same. The gear ratios go from 3.08,3.55,3.73, 4.1,4.56. Although this dana 35 is not as strong as a ford 9in,I think it is strong enough for a Hudson drive train. The spring perchs need to be about 1 1/2in closer together,I just cut the perches and panard bar bracket off the old hinny and welded to the dana 35.This may be old news to you guys,I just thought id pass it along as I accidentally discovered this when my brother was scrapping some cars at his shop.

That was the 'path' I initially started down myself, when doing research for replacement rearends.
However, when reading-up on it, I found that quite a few of the Jeep folks were replacing the DANA 35 rearend in their Jeeps with the 90's Ford Explorer rearend (8.8"). It is only about an inch narrower, much more robust, and can be had in a very similiar range of gear ratios. In addition, most of the rears come with limited slip differentials as well - and can be had with either drum or disc brakes (mostly depending on the year). And for them (the Jeep owners), even the 'perches' are in the correct place!
