WANTED to buy: dustributor cap for '37 Terraplane six
-
Hi. Anyone want to sell me one?

Here's one for $27 but I think you can beat that price. http://www.autopartsobsolete.com/1937-39-41-43-46-48-nash-studebaker-hudson-distributor-cap-nos-IGB-1240.html They're not that uncommon. Have you tried Dave Kostansek in Williamsfield, Ohio? He generally carries all sorts of ignition stuff (and a lot of other Hudson stuff). Advertises in the WTN.
It may save you some time if you can work up a list of all that you need, and then e-mail / mail it off to various Hudson vendors who advertise in the WTN. You may also want to get some spare parts of things like condensers, points, light bulbs and other things that generally wear out and need replacement. Then carry them around in your trunk, and you'll have them when you need them! -
According to what I've read, the 'Echlin AL59' (ECH AL59) is a replacement for 30s-40s Hudson 175 and 212 engines. Available at any NAPA auto parts...
No guarantees - I have not used one of these on any of my vehicles (yet).
Also, you might try this one - Listed for a 42-47 Hudson 212 engine -

@ Jon B - good recommendation. I'm compiling a list of cosmetic components I need (ps just need rubber and parts of the hood ornament so far...this thing is pretty complete). Its difficult to determine all the misc components, engine-wise, as she is at the machine shop for the rebuild. Come springtime, there will be quite a few swap meets in the area (and Hershey is relatively close) that I can stock up on misc as I find it. Now that we have a heater for the garage, we can start to tidy up the engine compartment, work on wiring and painting so that we can just drop that baby in and hit the road when the snow is gone 8->

NAPA came through, we are good to go on the distributor. Next is fuel pump.

Warning on the Standard AL5661X points: you can order these from your local parts house but when they come in, make sure you have both parts! I discovered that the screw part (the point that screws to the threaded fitting in the distributor) was missing, and when the counter man contacted his main office he found that these are not included! The lack of the mating screw point, makes the point set rather useless!

movable point only, in AL5661 -
Even thought all the NAPA numbers matched up, we got different points that have a wire and not that arm piece. The points with the wire match up to the existing part on the the car (not to say that one is correct...) I found a factory rebuilt fuel pump on ebay which (if it actually functions) was cheaper than the rebuild kits I found. Now I am looking for a water pump...and since I have the engine out, I might as well replace the motor mounts - any suggestions?
