I've been looking every where but I apparently am no good at searching. Can someone tell me the differences between the Commodore models and the super 6 models for the 1949 year? Thanks

Quite a few , some obvious ones would be things like ,steering wheel, tail lights ,trunk handle ,various dash and body trim pieces. Hood ornament ,fender spears things like that. The car was the same "Size" but all the appointments were different. The fancier more chrome ladden one was the Commodore. It also had nicer fabric and iterior than a super,

Oh I'm sure I left out a lot of things , was tring to see in my head the two side by side. Hub caps would be different also ,

Commodores had fully adjustable Interior sun visors, Wood grain door moldings below the window frames. Dimmer on dash light circuit, foam rubber seat padding, arm rest in center of back seat, woodgrain trim on back of front seat with chrome handles on assist rope on top of that woodgrain panel, different outside and inside door handles ( the window riser handles and mechanism has different mounting), courtesy lights with door jamb switches, crank out front door vent windows, Chrome instrument panel switches,Clock and speedometer faces different. The rocker panel stainless is wider,rear window trim has stainless surround.

I managed to add a few of those things to my Super to make it a "Superdore"

Yes and at the dealer you could order your new car with any "Commodore" option you wanted realy. So its not unusual to see cars like that with what seems like the "Wrong" parts on them.
There is not realy a right or wrong due to this,

So I believe I have a super 6 but it has the woodgrain and rear arm rest so these are things that could have been added by the original purchaser at the dealership?

The Super had triangle shaped tailights and Commodore was tall and thin. An easy thing to notice,

Quickest way to tell a Super from a Commodore is the serial number - Super 6's started with 491 and Commodore 6's 492!!!! Just for info Super 8's were 493 and Commodore 8's 494.

Think you could post a picture of your project for all of us to see? and like Alex mentioned what is your first three digits on the VIN number.

Were radio's also optional back in 1949 too? I am asking because my 49' never really had one and it is a Commodore 6.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I understand the radio in 48 was standard but not in 49 ? I have seen some 49"s with the delete plate,

I don't think the radio was standard at all in the 1940s and 50s.

Well thats why I asked , I wasn't around but seem's like I've heard that someplace. Have to admit seldom you see a 1948 without a radio,

In the fifties it apppears that Hudson's usual practice in advertising photos was to show the cars with no options/accessories installed. And one notes that there are no antennas showing in these photos, even on Hornets and Commodores.

For as long as I can remember, if you bought the lower priced model, that is the way it came from the factory. Now, if a customer wanted front fender top ornaments, the larger tail lights, or other exterior trim from a Senior model, that could be added by the dealer. However, you could never get a Commodore interior or interior trim (except the steering wheel) in a Super or Pacemaker direct from the factory! That';s the way it was folks!
