47 pickup gas tank mounting points and hardware
-
Does anyone have pics of how a gas tank mounts? In my research it states it mounts between the frame rails. Wow that was helpful NOT!!! I am trying to use the one from my 46 sedan. Yes, I do know that it is not the correct one, but they seem to fall into the unobtainable category, so anyway I have it so am trying to use it. Thanks

The tank is out of my PU. I can take pictures of the tank strap attachment points for you. Send me your email to send pictures because my pictures will not post on forum but will to emails.
The front tank strap attaches to bottom side of the bed boad support brace your tie down straps cross over at 3rd bolt hole from left side frame rail and 5th hole from right frame rail.
Rear of tank strap attaches to front side of crossmember on underside of top front of rear crossmember bed boad support your tie down strap raps around. 3rd bolt hole from left frame rail and 5th bolt hole from right frame rail.
These are the holes used on my trucks to support my original gas tank. I would ad some kind of air gap spacer between tank and bottom of bed wood to prevent wood rot and top of tank rusting away like mine did.
The bolts are the same bolts used to bolt the bed board stips Only these 4 bolts are longer. The bolts go through the bed board strips then then thru crossmember, ad washer, nut and thighten. Then ad nut, washer tank strap, washer and nut to adjust tank strap tension.
I hope this explanation is helpful. If pictures will be more helpful let me know.
