Classic Car Buying- Auto loans?

i have contacted about 5 different banks in the area and none seem to know how to use an old (short) VIN for a '65 galaxie i'm trying to get ahold of. Everyone i speak with tells me that they will need to process it as a personal loan, which i wont be approved for. Does anyone know what i'm supposed to be doing to get this to work? is there some universal trick? eg adding 5 zeros, etc
Any help anyone here can offer i'd greatly appreciate. This car is amazing and i don't want to miss it
